The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington (RACW) was recently honored by Highmark and its Small Business Solutions Team as a spotlight organization during National Small Business Week. As a small group employer in the insurance industry, we were recognized for the work we do to strengthen communities, support redevelopment efforts, and improve quality of life throughout Washington County. We were grateful to receive this recognition following a nomination submitted by our insurance broker, NFP, highlighting our impact within the community.
On Tuesday, May 12, representatives from Highmark and NFP visited us to learn more about our organization, our mission, and several of the projects we manage across the County. The visit began at our main office, where Bob Griffin, Executive Director, shared an overview of RACW, the programs we administer, and the partnerships that help drive economic development and community revitalization efforts. From there, we traveled to the former Brockway Glass Site on Ellis Avenue to discuss the history of the property, our involvement in redevelopment efforts, and future plans for the site. The visit concluded at Century Plaza Apartments, where we toured the facility, showcased a vacant unit, and discussed both our role in transforming the property into affordable housing and our ongoing day-to-day management of the facility.
Throughout the visit, we were proud to highlight the dedication of our staff and the hard work they put in every day to support the projects, programs, and residents we serve.
