The Canonsburg Educational & Cultural Institute (the Institute), a 501c3 non-profit established in 2021, purchased the former Canon-McMillan Middle School with the intent of turning the property into a regional center for arts, education, and culture. As part of the reimagining of the former school, the first project of the Institute was the renovation of the community’s historic auditorium, now known as Canon Theatre.

The Canon Theatre’s inaugural performance by The Clarks will be on October 24, 2026. In December, Little Lake Theatre Company (Theatre-in-Residence) will be bringing Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” to the stage. More information about the theatre and upcoming events can be found on their website.

The Redevelopment Authority is proud to have been part of the newly remodeled Art Deco-style theatre through the administration of $1 million of Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funds by RACW’s Community Development Specialist, Kerry Fox, and $500,000 of Local Share Account (LSA) funds by RACW’s Development Program Manager, Nathan Voytek.
