On August 5, 2025, Washington County, state, and local officials welcomed Lighthouse Electric to their new 100,000 sf facility at the former Brockway Glass Site in Canton Township. The facility, located at 55 Hickory Street, will employ nearly 100 high-wage workers who will fabricate and prepare electrical kits for Lighthouse Electric. An additional 65,000 sf building will be constructed on the site with completion expected to occur in the first quarter of 2026.
Lighthouse Electric was founded in Washington and is owned by the Mikec family who is thrilled to keep expanding their operations, creating good paying jobs, and helping to build a better community where they call home. The move to the Brockway location continues Lighthouse’s planned growth over the next five years. The Brockway phase of the company’s relocation plans, coupled with initial discussions with state and local officials to move the Lighthouse headquarters and build an additional fabricating facility in the City of Washington, could allow for a total of more than 1,000 high-paying, skilled jobs in Pennsylvania by 2030.
RACW Executive Director, Bob Griffin noted during the grand opening event that “the Lighthouse Electric move to the Brockway location combined with its other redevelopment plans for the City of Washington will significantly add to the economic growth of Washington County, enhance our quality of life, and speak loudly that Pennsylvania is the place to do business.”
The redevelopment of the former Brockway Glass site reflects a $21 million public-private- partnership with Crossgates, Inc. and Elmhurst Development LLC leading the project from the private investment side. The Redevelopment Authority, serving as the project’s public partner, administered approximately $10 million in grant and loan funds through state, federal, and local programs including the Local Share Account (LSA), Business in Our Sites (BIOS), Industrial Sites Reuse Program (ISRP), Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assessment Grant funds, and the Authority’s Revolving and Incentive Loan programs.
