The new Employee Volunteer Program (EVP) allows for members of the RACW team to take one workday per fiscal year to get involved in the community at a charitable organization or contribute time to one of our elderly resident facilities during food bank days. Doug Clutter, Building Superintendent at Century Plaza Apartments, Claysville Apartments, Claysville Patio Homes, and Burgettstown Apartments, spent his volunteer time at the Washington County Humane Society.

Doug said he has been a dog person since he was a kid and stated, “There is nothing that compares to the love and loyalty you can get from a dog.” He also enjoys volunteering at the Humane Society in his free time usually taking them for walks or off-site events. Doug has been with RACW for almost a year, and worked at the Humane Society prior to joining RACW.

RACW and the Humane Society have worked together in the past. RACW is proud to have assisted with the creation of the Humane Society’s new 10,000 square foot facility in 2018 and 2019. RACW’s Community Development Specialist, Kerry Fox, administered and implemented $300,000 of Local Share Account (LSA) funds for the demolition of the original building, paving of the new access road, creation of an enclosed grass area, and landscaping.

There are many volunteer opportunities at the Humane Society which can be found on their website.
